David Jellinek

David Jellinek is an experienced trial attorney, with extensive courtroom experience and a specialty in criminal defense, family law, and the prosecution and defense of 209A restraining orders. He has extensive legal experience in domestic relations and both public and private criminal defense cases through the Boston area and suburbs. David also prosecuted internal affairs violations for the Boston Police Department.

David graduated with honors from Haverford College in Pennsylvania (1997) and obtained his J.D. (cum laude) from Boston College Law School (2000). He served as a law clerk to Hon. Cecil Patterson (ret.) of the Arizona Court of Appeals and then returned to the Boston. He has served as editor of The Lexis-Nexis Practice Guide: Massachusetts Criminal Law for ten years and has been a panelist on various BBA and MCLE seminars.

David serves on the Board of Advisors at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, focusing his attention on bringing hospital services and substance use care into his practice, and the broader community. Additionally, since 2015, David has represented the underserved in their drug and alcohol recovery efforts as a lawyer in the Newton Drug Court, where he continues to provide his services on a pro bono basis. David has been able to tie together serving indigent clients and his acumen in the hospital services (including mental health services) with substance use treatment to create inroads for better care for the community at large. He has also focused on the working relationships between the City of Newton and the surrounding towns served by Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

David is a Boston area native and attended Buckingham, Browne, & Nichols School. He continues to live in the area with his wife, three children, and two dogs.
